Meet Dr. Sharon
Dr. Sharon-Yasotha Veerayah-McGregor is the founder of Syvara Learning and a hands-on AI Engineer, Data Scientist, STEM Professor, IT Data Management and Database Administrator with over 10 years of experience building production-grade systems across corporate, state, and academic environments.

She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and brings rare depth across both theoretical and applied domains — from graduate-level mathematics, programming to deploying AI-powered applications, SQL Server monitoring systems, Power BI dashboards, and machine learning models on real-world data.

Currently serving as an IT Data Management at the Washington State Board of Community & Technical Colleges, Dr. Sharon administers database infrastructure for a 34-institution statewide network and leads AI integration initiatives using Large Language Models and Agentic AI. Her work spans Python, Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, AWS migration, and full-stack app development - moving data from Oracle to downstream servers.

Dr. Sharon's career spans higher education and government sectors. As Data Leader for a $2M Department of Labor grant at South Central Technical & Community College, she built a consortium database serving 12 colleges across MN, led data analysis and reporting, and ensured full FERPA compliance.

Her higher education expertise runs deep — with hands-on experience in Jenzabar ERP systems, federal Perkins grant data analysis, and IPEDS reporting — giving her a firsthand understanding of the data challenges institutions face and the tools needed to solve them.
